FAQ

  • Why are there different options for importing pdf files?
PDF files are funny things. They may look like text when you are viewing them, but actually they may be images or other objects and they can be difficult to get the text from. There are 5 type of filter to use on the PDF to extract text whatever the format. In a perfect world the Document type would be used to get the text. If this does not give you all the text, try one of the other options.
  • What format files are supported for import?
.txt .pdf .rtf ....are all supported. If you have other formats like word or pages, use those programs to save the files to .txt or .rtf and import.
  • How do I record myself?
You record yourself reading your scrolling script by first entering Record mode. Press the Record button at the top right of the screen. The first time you use the app, you will be asked to allow the app access to the camera and microphone. Ensure you allow access. Then when you are ready press the Record button which starts to record Video/Audio and starts the script scrolling (in whichever script scrolling mode you have selected)
  • I accidentally declined the apps access to Camera and Microphone, how do I fix this?
Go to your devices System Settings. Scroll down to Camera and toggle on the app. Do the same for Microphone. You then may need to restart the app, probably best to do that. Ensure the correct Camera and Microphone are selected in the app Settings.
  • I'd like the video recording to continue for a while after the script is finished scrolling, can this be done?

Scrolling starts when you press the play or record button.
  • Can I manually scroll the script?
Yes you can. Whilest your script is automatically scrolling, you can always manually scroll up or down to either back track or skip forward if time is pressing. However, there may be occations where you want ultimate control of the script scrolling position. In this case you can set the scrolling to be Manual Paging. This is particularly useful for news readers who will often use a remote control to move on the script rather than auto scrolling. To set the script to Manual Paging mode ensure it is selected in the bottom left of the teleprompter screen. Click the current scrolling mode icon to select a new one. When you select Manual Paging, and start your script by pressing the Play or Record button, you will be able to use the page up and page down buttons to page through your script. Find out which buttons are used for Page Up and Page Down (or to remap them) go to the Keyboard Mapping section in Settings.
  • I've been asked to make a 60 second video, how do I set a specific time to scroll for?
You can set a timer for any amount of time, your script will then scroll from top to bottom taking exactly the time you set to get to the bottom. Remember, if you've got a long time and a short script.....its going to scroll slowly!....and vica versa. So make. sure your script is long enough for the time you have. To set the script to Timer mode ensure it is selected in the bottom left of the teleprompter screen. Click the current scrolling mode icon to select a new one. When you have selected Timer mode, click or tap the clock to set the duration you want. Once set, when you press the play or record button, the script will scroll for the set amount of time.
